Vanessa Bryant, the wife of late basketball player Kobe Bryant, has filed a case against the Sheriff’s Department of Los Angeles County over the sharing of unauthorized photos of the helicopter crash scene which had killed her husband, their daughter, and seven other people. The claim was filed on Friday and as per the claim, Sheriff Alex Villanueva had given her assurance that the deputies were in the process of securing the crash location so that her privacy is maintained.
As a precursor to a lawsuit, it was claimed that the deputies were clicking photos of that location, not for the investigation but they were do doing so to meet their purpose.
Further Revelations From The Claim
The claims have also stated that the department’s response to this particular scandal has been insufficient. They have not gone ahead to get a breakthrough in this case. It said that Mrs. Vanessa Bryant was quite to known that the department had not gone ahead in carrying out a thorough investigation until the Los Angeles Times had come up with the news. This incident has been the talking point in the daily news sports section of the media house.
The allegation put forward in the claim mentions that the deputies who had clicked and shared those photos are perfectly liable not only for negligence but also for intentionally causing emotional distress and interfering with Vanessa Bryant’s privacy. Sheriff’s Department said that it had not received the claim and hence declined to make any comment.
It was the Los Angeles Times that had first disclosed the news where it mentioned that the deputies shared the pictures clicked at the site of the crash near Calabasas. The sharing of photos was done after an individual had filed a written complaint to the Sheriff’s Department only three days from that fateful day of 26th January.
In the complaint, it was mentioned that a young deputy was displaying highly unpleasant pictures that were taken at the site where the tragic incident had occurred. For several weeks, the officials of the Sheriff’s Department had tried to keep the case suppressed rather than going about in following the usual protocols for investigation. This was even after making sure that other deputies had also gathered pictures.
Sheriff Alex Villaneuva had committed the grave mistake of ordering his deputies to delete the pictures. According to the legal experts, this move by the Sheriff was reason enough to level charges against him for the destruction of evidence. It was turning out to be, one of the most shocking sports stories of the week which will surely keep the sports lovers on their toes to know more.
Now, after these revelations, attorney general for Vanessa Bryant claimed that she had gone over the sheriff’s office following the crash, hence placed a request for the area to get designated as a no-fly zone and also make the photographers stay away from the region but unfortunately, the request was not adhered to.
